OXH GALLERY is pleased to present Weave a Tale featuring Misako Nakahira’s “Crossing” and “Interaction” series.
Nakahira is a Japanese weaver specializing in the tsuzure-ori technique. In this traditional Japanese weaving technique, artisans guide threads with grooved fingernails, packing them tightly together.
In her recent work, Nakahira overlays striped fabrics to interact like converging waves of water, reflecting her desire to express not only the layering of lines and colors, but also the relationships between people and objects. Like towels swaying in the wind, these relationships are fluid, dynamic, and ever-changing.
Weave a Tale is Misako Nakahiri’s first solo exhibition in the United States.
