Polaroid Emulsion Workshop w/ Lance Rothstein

Lance Rothstein has been making instant photos since 2008. He'll bring a table full of Polaroid cameras from his personal collection and guide you through the traditional process of making Polaroid Emulsion Lifts. Lance will discuss the history of Polaroid photos and show some examples and images from his tour of the Polaroid Factory in the Netherlands.

Each participant will be provided with an instant camera to use during the workshop and one pack of instant film. Participants will have a quick instruction session on how to get the best results from your film & camera, along with some creative tips. Everyone will have about 40 min to take pictures on a guided photo walk.

The second half of the workshop will focus on the process of transferring images. Digital pictures can also be used to make Polaroids and lifts with my Instant Lab. All materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own Polaroid camera or interesting papers if you like.

Lance Rothstein is a photojournalist with more than 20 years experience. He has worked for numerous publications including The New York Times, the Miami Herald, and the Tampa Tribune. Rothstein was also a staff photographer for the Tampa Bay Times for nine years. After working as a freelance photographer in Europe, Lance is back in Florida, and specializes in teaching film & darkroom photography locally.
